Are you a fishing enthusiast who dreams of living and working in the wilderness? Working as an angling guide is an ideal way to combine the sport you love with the lifestyle you dream of. In our guide training, you will learn the fishing techniques, wilderness skills, and management knowledge that every angling guide needs, practicing in diverse environments, including lakes, ponds, rivers and streams. Living in our supportive ranch community and learning about our philosophy as you train will empower you to take responsibility and contribute essential skills that allow you to share your knowledge of the area and angling techniques with your guests.

In our comprehensive wilderness hiking guide training, we prepare you to live and work in the wilderness as a hiking guide. You will learn crucial wilderness skills and the mentality to work in nature at our ranch and learn with hands-on learning activities. Then, you’ll practice your new skills as you embark on a multi-day hiking trip into remote wilderness where the unpredictable challenges nature provides will put all your skills to the test.
The different levels of our bushcraft and survival courses will set you up with the skills you need to thrive in any wilderness situation. Learning how to find and use edible plants, make fire and find shelter will set you up with tangible skills. Learning about a positive, solution-orientated mindset and how to implement this will increase your chances of survival in a dangerous situation.
Our Wilderness and Ranch Entrepreneurship Training is the next level of our Wilderness and Ranch Management Training. We teach you how to be an entrepreneur by facilitating the opportunity for you to take responsibility for directing and managing one of the subdivisions of our ranch. Here is an opportunity to spend four inspiring days learning the foundation for becoming a professional photographer, by reviewing the fundamentals of photographic composition, lighting and design, with an emphasis on the image. Learn about the importance of lighting and animal wake and sleep cycles to give you the best chance of capturing the image you are looking for. We will share our personal insights on how to maximize your time, especially when your window of opportunity may be limited and under less than ideal conditions, particularly when faced with the unpredictable challenges nature has to offer.

Train at our guest ranch before you ride into the mountains to hone your newly acquired skills with a back-country horse pack trip. We’ll teach you the broad set of skills that are essential for every horseback guide. You’ll have the ability and confidence to lead guests into remote wilderness or embark on your own nature experiences.

Learn the fundamental skills and practical knowledge that are crucial for building a log cabin. We provide hands-on training and ample opportunities to hone your newly acquired construction skills. At the end of our log cabin building course, you’ll walk away with the confidence and competence to build your own dream log cabin.
Throughout our wilderness horse logging course, you’ll learn how to selectively harvest trees without the use of heavy machinery as we train you in crucial horse logging skills. These include driving horses and all facets of woodlot management, including government regulations, licences and sustainable land management. If you own your own woodlot, are seeking a new career path, or simply want to learn more about restorative forestry, our horse logging course will provide you with the practical skills and fundamental knowledge that you need.
The Wilderness and Ranch Management Training program is designed to cover every aspect of a wilderness lodge operation from housekeeping to management through working in the kitchen and office to ranch maintenance. Each department has four modules and progresses from entry-level duties to a management level. You will be challenged with unexpected scenarios facilitated by living in a remote wilderness location. These will test your problem-solving skills and will mean you need to be flexible and adaptable.
